Quality improvement for Mental Health

Quality improvement for Mental Health Quality determines whether services increase the likelihood of achieving desired mental health outcomes and whether they meet the current requirements of evidence-based practice. Quality is important in all mental health systems because good quality ensures that people with mental disorders receive the care they require and that their symptoms and quality of life improve. This module sets out practical steps for the improvement of the quality of mental health care including: establishing well functioning accreditation procedures; establishing standards for mh services; monitoring the mental health service using Standards documents and accreditation procedures; integrating quality improvement for mental health into service management and service delivery; Improving or even reforming services where necessary; developing a comprehensive policy and strategic plan for coordinating all actions and services related to mental; aligning funding to promote quality improvement.

This module is part of the WHO Mental Health Policy and Service Guidance Package. The package consists of a series of interrelated user-friendly modules designed to address the wide variety of needs and priorities in policy development and service planning. Each module addresses a core aspect of mental health.
